About Genealogy
This part of the site is dedicated to one of my hobbies, genealogy. I mostly put it together so that I could have a central place to store my information, but also so that I could share that information with my family and my extended family. My interest in genealogy stems from wanting a connection to the past, and wanting to know more about it. What were my ancestors like? Where did they live? What did they do? Through research and learning from others, I am sometimes able to answer those questions and have some link to the past.
The family lines that I am a part of are numerous. I am a Hampton on my mother’s side and a Devine on my father’s side. On my mother’s mother’s side, a Howard, on my father’s mother’s side a Watts. Further back on mother’s side are Captain, Gullett, Jackson, and Daugherty. Further back on my father’s side is Kilgore.
My cohort in research is my Aunt, Lola Purvis. I don’t remember how I became involved, but she has long been working on researching our family. She is my mother’s sister, and was delighted that someone in the family was interested in genealogy. My time spent on research comes in fits and spots, depending on how much my work and other hobbies allow, but hopefully this site will lead me to become more organized and be able to share more information about my research.
